About AR First
AR First publishes the numbers behind Canadian retirement income. Each article is a numbered Sheet built around a worked calculation: how a Canada Pension Plan amount is indexed, why a RRIF minimum rises, what the age amount is worth at a given income, how much an extra dollar of income costs someone receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement.
How a Sheet is built
- Published figures first. Every rate, maximum and threshold is taken from the Government of Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency, Employment and Social Development Canada, Statistics Canada or the Bank of Canada, and each Sheet links the pages it relies on.
- Assumptions stated. Where a calculation needs a starting amount or an inflation rate, we say what we assumed, label the result as illustrative, and show the arithmetic.
- Dated. Figures change, usually every January and in some cases every quarter. Each Sheet carries the date its figures were checked.
- No invented people. Sheets carry the byline AR First Editorial. We do not invent writers, case studies, reader letters or testimonials, and our photographs are illustrative.
Who publishes it
AR First is published by OÜ ET Consult, a private limited company registered in Estonia (registry code 11545607, VAT EE101502902). Full details are on the imprint.
This is sponsored content
Every page carries a disclosure at the top naming OÜ ET Consult as the sponsor. The site is commercial: it is funded by its publisher and promoted through paid advertising. We say so on every page rather than leaving it to be inferred.
What we are not
- We are not a Government of Canada, Service Canada or Canada Revenue Agency website, and we have no affiliation with any of them.
- We do not process, submit or assist with applications for any benefit, and nothing on this site needs to be registered for or paid for to receive one.
- We never ask for a Social Insurance Number, banking details or government account credentials.
- We are not financial, tax or legal advisers, and we do not sell or recommend financial products or providers.
Corrections
If you think a figure is wrong, write to info@arfirst.org with the Sheet number and the line in question. We correct errors of fact and note material corrections on the page.
